| I was looking through my sophomore year book today and I cracked up laughing at some of the things people said. Stu Foster is one that I'll never forget.
Kayla- To have you as a friend everyday was/is awesome. Every conversation has been full and worthwhile. I hope we have mutually learned about each other and take it to spread those seeds into other people. I think our world would flourish around us because of it. -Stu Foster
Roy Brodhacker had a nice one too. Very short and 'sweet'
I don't like animal rights people but you're okay.
And Jon-Eric Meyer, my senior mentor...I have the worst time trying to read what it says but I laugh everytime I'm done.
<can't tell> up babygrl- u crack me up! u have been awesome and I hope I've been a good senior mentor. You're so nice, sweet, and very pretty. I don't know if that's legal for me to say that b/c I'm 18 but it's true. best of luck to u. Your senior mentor, J E Meyer
I got tons of "HAGS" and tons of "You're so sweet!" I don't know if everyone gets those, but I laughed thinking about sophomore year. I almost always had on a smiling face. Junior year I was almost always frowning or on the verge of tears. Senior year...it's been a mix. There were times of the day that I was always happy (first hour!) and times when I was almost always sad (third hour).
I don't really know what I'm saying or why I'm saying it, but high school has been great, even when I thought it was horrible. I have tons of memories of people that I never see, but I'll never forget them.

Is there anyone that fails
Is there anyone that falls
Am I the only one in church today feelin' so small
Just because we're at church doesn't mean you have to be perfect. In fact, at church you should be aware of how often you fail.
Cause when I take a look around
Everybody seems so strong
I know they'll soon discover
That I don't belong
I wonder how many times I've thought I didn't belong, and that I was weird, only to find out that what I thought I was the only person to do, other people do as well.
So I tuck it all away, like everything's okay
If I make them all believe it, maybe I'll believe it too
So with a painted grin, I play the part again
So everyone will see me the way that I see them
If you're going through something hard, chances are someone else as gone through it as well. Don't convince yourself that you're unique in your problems
Are we happy plastic people
Under shiny plastic steeples
With walls around our weakness
And smiles to hide our pain
But if the invitation's open
To every heart that has been broken
Maybe then we close the curtain
On our stained glass masquerade
Is there anyone who's been there
Are there any hands to raise
Am I the only one who's traded
In the altar for a stage
It's so easy to get into the act of following the Lord. Show up to church, sing the songs, listen to the message, and then you're over for a week. Simple as that. Don't let it happen.
The performance is convincing
And we know every line by heart
Only when no one is watching
Can we really fall apart
Is it a natural human
reaction to hide everything inside, and only let it out when we're
alone? Or is it something society has told us to do? It doesn't make
anything easier, yet we still do it.
But would it set me free
If I dared to let you see
The truth behind the person
That you imagine me to be
If you're upset, talk about it. Stop hiding who you really are just to fit in.
Would your arms be open
Or would you walk away
Would the love of Jesus
Be enough to make you stay
Opening up to people is a huge step of trust. You could spill all of your problems to someone, only to have them walk off or make you feel small. You have to hope that they will love you like Jesus, and stay.

| So, I've been thinking a lot lately, about all sorts of things in life and I finally think I'm beginning to be okay with what I've been thinking about. Yesterday in youth group we were talking about how even if you think you have something unforgivible, God will forgive you. God forgiving me wasn't my problem. My problem was forgiving myself. I couldn't believe I had done what I did and I guess for a long time I didn't admit to myself that I had done it. I kept saying "It was his fault. I was just pulled into it by him" but that's not the way it went. It takes two to tango and went along with it. Last night, I was pretty upset by it so when I got home, I decided to write it all down in my journal so that I would be admitting that something happened. I starting writing and I was amazed at how much I had to say about the situation and how much I was hiding from myself. I never let myself see why it had happened. I was so stuck on it being all the other persons fault that I didn't see that I may have started it. I felt a lot better when I finally went to bed. It's still a little weird for me because I'm slowly telling myself "Kayla, it's okay to feel awkward around this person. It's okay to remember what happened. What's not okay is to push the blame all off onto someone else or to not fully see your part in what happened."
So there you have it. I'm feeling a lot better about everything now.
Final thoughts:
- I'm afraid of death.
- Casting Crowns is a really cool band.
- No one can guilt me into doing something I don't want to do.
- Sudoku puzzles are really fun.
- Keyboards and mice get real dirty, real fast. (ick!)

| My cat is so freaking adorable! He's sitting on my lap right now, just purring because he's getting attention. I love him. Another thing I love are lists. So I'm making one for the things I love about my cat.
- He's afraid of the dark! How cute is that?
- When I'm feeling down, he wipes away my tears with his paws (looks like he's softly batting my face)
- When I'm balling and no one can get through to me, he attacks me to shake me out of it. Makes me mad sometimes but then I feel really bad for yelling at him.
- When I'm really tired, he comes and lays down with me.
- When he wants attention really bad, he gives me kisses (puts his nose to my mouth). I've never quite figured out where he learned that.
- He seems to understand human emotions, thoughts, and actions.
- He looks so cute when he's laying on his back!
- He thinks he's a mountain climber sometimes, clawing his way up the windows.
- He's afraid of the doorbell.
- No matter how mean I can be to him, he will always love me.
One final note. Mary J, not sure if you're going to read this, but if you do, SHAME ON YOU! | | |
